Since April 2024, we have been supporting the National Agency for Sanitation and Public Health (ANASP) of Guinea to structure the downstream segment of the solid waste management sector in Conakry, as part of a Technical Assistance for Project Management lasting 6 years.
Financed by the European Union and the French Development Agency, this project aims to equip the Guinean capital with a Technical Landfill Center (CET) that meets international standards. Ultimately, this infrastructure will allow the closure of the current landfill, which causes significant nuisances in the urban area of Conakry.
Our intervention is part of a strategy to strengthen the capacities of the public sector and revolves around 7 major areas:
- Support for operational, technical, administrative, and financial management and leadership
- Strengthening the institutional, organisational, and regulatory framework of the sector
- Design, implementation, and monitoring of cost recovery mechanisms and structuring sector financing
- Enhancing the operational capacities of public actors
- Support for environmental (including climate) and social management
- Implementation of procurement procedures
- Communication
