Climate change adaptation and resilience

Adaptation et résilience

From climate scenario analysis to defining adaptation strategies

Climate scenario analysis

Thanks to our internal team of climate experts, we are able to model the evolution of climate scenarios and related hazards, in order to estimate the impacts of climate change on the different infrastructures or systems in short or long term horizons.

Our expertise:

  • Climate hazard frequency/intensity maps and quantification of the relevant climate hazards today and in the future (2030, 2050 or 2080)
  • Climate data platforms such as Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas, IPCC WGI Interactive Atlas, and the World Bank Climate Change Knowledge Portal
  • Data analysis and visualisation using QGIS
  • Presentation of results in ArcGis StoryMaps

Exposure and vulnerability assessment

Our teams assess the vulnerability of infrastructure to current and future climate hazards to understand its resilience and risk level. We follow the principles of the ISO Standard 14091 (Adaptation to climate change - Guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment), the IPCC guidelines for managing the risks related to extreme events, and the OCARA (Operational Climate Adaptation Risk Assessment) methodology developed by Carbone 4.

Notre expertise :

  • Exposure assessments to identify the critical assets potentially affected by the different climate hazards
  • Vulnerability assessments to characterise how the assets will be impacted by the different climate hazards
  • Risk assessments for the climate Today and for Future time horizons
  • Adaptation plans to increase infrastructure resilience in the future
